Anime Cliché’s…

Cherry Blossoms

“Hmm, this scene is missing something, oh I know lets just add a cherry blossom tree in the background”, is probably what the creators of an anime series would say.

The window seat is reserved for the main protagonist

You’ll always be able to find out the importance of a character,  the closer they sit to the window. Thats rule 101 of anime.

Where are the parents?

Uzumaki_Kushina n Minato (2)

Most of the time, the parents are dead or out of town. House party at mine anyone?

Dramatic Nosebleeds

With the amout of blood they loose you’d think it would be impossible to survive.  Good thing I always carry tissues in my handbag 🙂

The Hot Springs

This isnt even a bad thing, lol.

Ive got to give some fillers credit, due to the fact they are either funny or entertaining.  But some are absolutely pointless!!

Transfer Students

A transfer student strolls in.. you know something is going to go down.

Hairstyle Of Doom

Ladies.. If you tie your hair to the side, theres a 99.9% your going to be eaten by a titan or die. Men take note!

The return of the childhood friend..

So you have a love interest, then all of a sudden a friend from the past returns into your life, she/ he confesses her love for you.. oh come on,  you played together a few times, maybe looked after an egg together, or even said you’ll marry each other too.. ehh well where have you been the past 10 years of my life? But dont worry, I’ll ignore the current girl/ boy I have strong feelings for, just for you, since we climbed trees together when we were younger… frustrating much?

Let me know if you feel like these scenarios are overused, maybe you know of others, it would be great if you’d share what you think:)

Monsters In Human Clothing..

Recently we have come across anime series, which involves the main protagonists becoming some sort of monsters, well that’s what others about them think. Where as I, on the other hand feel as if they were either at the wrong place at the wrong time, or they just have some rotten luck. I actually feel sorry for them, they didn’t choose to become what they became, but I guess its all for a good story. So I decided to list down all those poor souls who’s human forms were snatched away from them.

Kaneki Ken (Tokyo Ghoul)

Kaneki was a shy, gentle and appears to be a optimistic person. He usually spent his time reading books (novels). Due to his lack of assertiveness, he would find himself getting bullied or taken advantage of.

Kaneki and Hide listened to the news about the ghoul attacks while in Anteiku. Hide then wondered if Touka was Kaneki’s crush, he denied this and pointed at Rize. Once Hide left, he arranged a date with Rize. However, it is revealed that Rize herself is a ghoul, she lures Kaneki into an isolated alley, and attacks him. During the attack, Kaneki was pierced through the abdomen by her kagune. but before she could finish devouring him, she is struck by a steel beams that crush her. In order to save his life, Dr Kanou decided to transplant Rize’s organs into him. He then became half human, half ghoul.

A clear example of someone who had no choice in this matter, a date with a pretty woman ended with horrific results.

Eren Yeager (Attack On Titan)

After he’s mother was eaten by a titan, he vowed he would kill all titans. He is introduced as a hot headed 10 year old, with dreams of exploring the world beyond the wall and joining the survey corps. Following the fall of Shingashina, Eren has a brief encounter with his father, who give him a key to the basement of their house, he also injects a mysterious liquid into him.

During a mission, when the titans breach the wall, Eren is swallowed by a titan, sacrificing himself to save his friend, Armin. Later on however, a titan emerges out of the titan that swallowed Eren. 15 meters tall, this titan starts attacking other titans, ignoring all the humans. After the titan collapses, Eren’s body is exposed, unconscious attached to the back of the neck.

A sad case really, he became something he hated. What can be worse than that?

Zero Kiryu (Vampire Knight)

Zero was born into a family of vampire hunters. Zero and his twin brother trained together by a man named Toga, he looked after the boys when their parents were out hunting. Four years ago, zero and his twin brother found a woman named Shizuka Hio sitting in a tree. Zero instantly new she was a vampire, he told his brother to stay away from her. A couple of days later, Shizuka attacked the family, killing their parents, and biting Zero. Being bitten meant he would turn into a vampire.

He was a trained vampire hunter, who would protect humans from being attacked by them, yet unfortunately, he ended up becoming one.

Shinichi Izumi (Parasyte: The Maxim)

The story starts of with Shinichi, lying on his bed, with his ear plugs on. A parasite enters his room, and attempts to take over his brain. It crawls into his arm, by this time Shinichi takes of his ear plugs, and wraps the wire around his arm tight enough so that the parasite will stop advancing. When he encounters the parasite again, he is shocked and horrified to find out that his right arm was eaten and replaced by the parasite. After the death of his mother, who was killed by a parasite, and killing him while he gets attacked in his house, being stabbed through the heart, (Migi saving him), he harbours hatred towards the parasites.

I feel like these characters did nothing wrong, its just that fate had something else planned for them. Each of these characters when through something traumatic, but they grew as people, learned how to still try and be themselves 🙂

The Perfect Man…

Classy like Sebastian Michaelis.. im sorry, but a man with class is attractive in his own right, theres just something about the way Sebastian carries himself

Clean like Levi Ackerman. I’m pretty much a neat freak, I love things clean and organised,  Levi is a perfect example of a clean man, plus he’s short, so am I 😉

Dominant like Hijikata Toshizo, a man isnt a man if doesnt take the rails often, yes men and women should be treated as equals, but I’m a little old fashioned. I like my men taking charge and taking the lead, making decisions and using their brains.

Smart like L… I personally find intellectual men quite attractive,  lets face it, I don’t really want to make a conversation with a person who doesnt have a clue as to what I’m talking about. I like to learn new things and to find out things I don’t know about.

Stable like Tomoya Okazaki, every woman wants to get married and have children one day, we need that sense of stability,  we’re just needy like that, LOL

Attractive like Takumi Usui,  be real, you have to be attracted to someone,  I don’t want to sound shallow, but for me looks matter, if im not attracted to someone,  I don’t think I’d get to know them on THAT level 🙂 but personality also matters..

Loyal and funny like Natsu, loyalty is really important to me,  I want to be able to trust a person. Also someone who is able to make me laugh and put a smile on my face is really attractive 🙂

Strong like Saitama, who wouldnt love a man who’s that strong,  being able to defend yourself is definitely a plus 🙂

Okay.. maybe I got a tad bit carried away, but thats just me. If only real men were like the ones in anime or manga, the world would be such a great place to live in 😀

Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon

Aired: March 7th 1992 to February 27th 1993

Just a bunch of pretty girls fighting demons!

Sailor moon is about a girl named Usagi, she’s whiny and a crybaby,  shes always running late for school, failing tests, who would have thought she’d be the heroine,  right?

We are later introduced to other characters, some friends,  a lover and memorable villians.

I love the relationship between Usagi and Rei (sailor Mars),  they are constantly butting heads, but you can tell they care deeply for each other.

Oh and who can forget the magical girl transformation? I remember when I was younger,  I used to pretend that I could transform to, weird much? 🙂

If the kids these days tried to watch sailor moon, they’d probably be a little disappointed. Watching this series after 16 years from when I first saw this master piece,  I can honestly say it was just how I remembered it, it was one of those nostalgic moments.

I couldn’t help but sing along to the theme song, to my surprise I still remembered the lyrics. I watched this series in dub, since it used to come on fox kids, im not sure what that channel is called now.

This series is the very definition of the “magical girl” genre.

I get some people wouldn’t give this series a chance purely because of the artwork,  compared to todays standards it looks simple and plain, what do you expect, the technology has changed so much over the years.

However the voice acting is strong, you can tell the voice actors put their hearts into the characters they voiced.

I truly love this show,  it opened my world to anime! I can’t recommend this series enough.

Personally I’d rate the whole series a 9.5
